The study year is organised in winter and summer semester. The winter semester starts on the third Monday of September, while the summer semester starts on the third Monday of February.
The teaching in the two semesters has the duration of 12 weeks, when the students have a continuous lessons, and then 7 weeks that are planned for an individual preparation and exams, midterm tests and final exams. Заверувањето на зимскиот и запишувањето на летниот семестар, заедно со зимскиот одмор траат две недели.The student, who is financed by the country, can repeat a study year only once, and in case the student does not achieve the right to enroll in the next study year, he/she loses the status of a student with co-financing. In this case, the student has the right to enroll in the same study year with a status of a student that covers his/her expenses individually.
Students whose education is financed by the country, keep their status no longer than twice the duration of the studies in which they are enrolled, or i.e. until the end of the academic year when that deadline expires. After the deadline, the student continues the studies with co-financing.Students registrate the subjects they want to attend and then take an exam in the following study year three weeks before the start of the winter semester; and for the first study year after the enrolment in the semester and the submission of the semester’s sheet. The students choose subjects up to 30 ECTS credits in a semester, and up to 60 ECTS for the whole academic year.
A condition to take a final exam is that the student has cumulatively achieved a minimum of 42 points from all the pre-examination activities; if the student does not achieve the requested minimum, the subject will be reregistered in the next study year without a recognition of any of the pre-examination activities. If the student has cumulatively achieved 42 points, the subject is not re-registered and all the pre-examination points are valid. СStudents that are orphans, blind, deaf or disabled (from first and second group), mother with children aged up to 6 years and hospitalised students have the right to take the exams in additional exam sessions at least twice a year. The verification of a semester is obligatory for all students since it determines the number of ECTS credits achieved by the student. The student can verify the semester if the student has obtained signatures in the index for all the semestral subjects; a student that does not have all the signatures may verify the semester under certain conditions determined with a decision by the rector’s board.
The student may enroll in the next semester only if the previous semester has been verified. The verification and enrollment deadlines are determined by the student’s calendar. To enroll in the next semester and the next academic year, the students need to have acquired a certain ECTS points in the following order:

- the student will not enroll in the following academic year when he/she doesn’t have an enrollment condition or
- the student does not activate the suspension of studies that has been approved for a certain period of time
The Goce Delcev University allows parallel (simultaneous) studying of two study programmes, which is determined with the rulebook for first cycle of studies.
In accordance with the rulebook, the student can enroll parallelly in a second study programme if he/she has achieved the enrollment conditions and covers the expenses for the studies. The student enrolls in the second study programme as a part-time student. After a successfull completion of the two study programmes, the student will receive a separate diploma for each of them. Only the studies at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the study programmes of General Medicine, Pharmacy and Dental Medicine and the Music Academy are exempt from this rule.In order to realise the right for a paralell study, the student makes a request to the archive of students’ files, then the vice-dean of the unit prepares a report and forwards it to the ECTS coordinator of the University, who prepares a decision. A student certificate for the first study program should be attached with the request.
The final decision about the request is done at the beginning of the new academic year. The passed exams in the first study year are regonised if the subjects have a content and volume that corresponds a subject in the second study programme.
The recognition of a subject means a recognition of the grade that the student has, as well as the ECTS credits in accordance with the study programme.
