The new academic year has begun for over 1,500 new students at the University of Goce Delchev – Shtip.

At the first academic class, the students were addressed by the Rector of the University of Goce Delchev, Prof. Dr. Dejan Mirakovski, the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska, the Mayor of Shtip, Ivan Jordanov, and the students Aleksandar Velichkov and Sara Tosheva.

Rector Mirakovski emphasized that the University will do everything it can to ensure that students receive a higher quality education:

– Today we open the doors to the amphitheaters, lecture halls, laboratories and wish successful studies to the new generations of freshmen, our new hope in education. I am sure that we as a university will do everything we can to ensure that they receive a higher quality education and be future builders of our country, to create their careers here and to succeed in everything they undertake as an activity in the future. The university is starting this academic year with around 1200 new students from Macedonia, as well as 350 foreign citizens, numbers that are satisfactory for us in all aspects. I hope that we will continue to offer them high-quality education and to assist them in their professional development and in all other activities that the young generations undertake. The university is part of this environment and will continue to actively support it in all aspects of the development of the environment in which we operate – Mirakovski emphasized.

Minister Janevska announced support for both students and professors:

– Today begins the new academic year for all students of all generations and for all professors from universities and faculties. It is appropriate to wish them success in their studies, good health and happiness on this beautiful day. Students have a job to learn, to dedicate themselves to knowledge, to be curious, to research, but also to respect and listen to their professors. The job of professors is to dedicate themselves 100 percent to their students, to teach them, to help them in discovering scientific truths, in research and in achieving the goals of young people who will dedicate their lives to a certain profession they have chosen. The job, however, of the state is to support both, in various ways – for professors to be motivated to perform their task, and for students to have good conditions and satisfactory opportunities to fulfill their needs. We will also work on motivating teachers, they already receive higher salaries, during the next year they will also increase, and students receive benefits, all the opportunities that the student standard offers them, which are student dormitories, student meals, scholarships on various grounds.

The Mayor of Shtip, Ivan Jordanov, emphasized the connection between the UGD and the Local Self-Government and the Municipality of Shtip:

– I wish a successful academic year to all students of the UGD. The significance of the University “Goce Delchev” for us as a municipality is special, strengthening local economic development. I hope that with the reforms, the decisions that in cooperation with the University, the Ministry of Education and Science and we as the Local Government will make, that the number of students at the University of Goce Delchev in our city will increase from year to year, and thus, as I mentioned, local economic development will be strengthened and the quality of higher education will be improved. With this, more and more young people, educated, full of knowledge and experience, will be able to enter the labor market more easily and generate development in our society.

The first academic class was held at all faculties and academies within the University of Goce Delchev, and the students who attended the first academic class at special stands were able to obtain information they need for their studies and stay at the University of Goce Delchev and in Shtip.
