Faculty of Philology Marks 100th Anniversary of Franz Kafka’s Death

With guest lectures and a workshop, today the Faculty of Philology marked the 100th anniversary of the death of the popular Franz Kafka.

– Today the Faculty of Philology is hosting two guest lectures. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka’s death, we have as guests Prof. Dr. Zorica Nikolovska and Prof. Dr. Marijana Gjorgieva from the Faculty of Philology “Blaže Koneski” in Skopje. They will hold a lecture and a short workshop with our students from the Faculty of Philology – said Prof. Dr. Biljana Ivanovska from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Dramatic Arts.

The professors from the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje spoke to the students about the relevance of Kafka today and how Kafka’s themes are still extremely popular today.

– We have come to mark the anniversary, the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Kafka. This is an author who is today a phenomenon of pop culture, who is known all over the world. If you go to Prague, where he was born, you will see that this year everything is about Franz Kafka. We will talk about the relevance of Kafka today, what makes Kafka so popular and why what he deals with in his works is very current – said Prof. Dr. Zorica Nikolovska from the Faculty of Philology “Blaže Koneski” in Skopje.

The lectures and workshops were attended by students from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade, and students from the Department of German Language and Literature were especially invited to attend.
