In December 2024, Goce Delchev University became a new partner of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE), as the first university from the Western Balkans.
GFCE is a community of over 200 members and partners, including governments, international organizations, companies and universities from around the world. It strengthens international cooperation in cyber capacity building, by connecting needs, resources and expertise, and by making practical knowledge accessible to all. Currently, the main focus of GFCE is threefold: coordinating regional and global cyber capacity projects and initiatives; sharing knowledge and expertise by recommending tools and publications; and matching individual cyber capacity needs with community support offers as a clearinghouse.
The mission of the GFCE is to ensure that every citizen of the world can fully benefit from ICTs through a free, open, peaceful and secure digital world. Cyber capacity building provides the necessary foundation for countries to strengthen their cyber resilience by developing skills and capabilities that address threats and vulnerabilities arising from cyberspace. The GFCE strengthens cyber capabilities and expertise globally through international cooperation and collaboration.
There are several working groups within the GFCE and the UGD is currently part of the Cyber Security Culture and Skills Working Group, which focuses on raising cybersecurity awareness, as well as educating and training the cybersecurity workforce.
